Time synchronisation 7 Years, 6 Months ago Karma: 0
Hi!

Is it possible to have a different time on the VM and the host?

Changing the time on the VM has simply no effect - after a reboot of the VM the time is always the same as on the host.

Changing the "internet time synchronization" option as described at www.vmlite.com/index.php/forums/9-vmlite-xp-mode/1212-time#1213 also has no effect.

Thanks in advance,
Karl

You can run this command from c:\program files\vmlite\vmlite workstation:

vboxmanage "VMLite XP Mode" setextradata “VBoxInternal/Devices/VMMDev/0/Config/GetHostTimeDisabled” “1"

you can change the vm name to yours.

Inside Windows guest, you can setup an internet time server to sync with. double click on the time and go to the Internet Time tab. Check the box and choose time.nist.gov

Hi!
Thanks for the answer. But i receive an error message, if i try to run the command:

vboxmanage "VMLiteXPMode" setextradata “VBoxInternal/Devices/VMMDev/0/Config/GetHostTimeDisabled” “1"

Error "Syntax error: Invalid command 'VMLiteXPMode'"

--> "VMLiteXPMode" is the name of the VM.

Did you know which part is wrong?

Karl

P.S.: I also tried
vboxmanage setextradata "VMLiteXPMode" "VBoxInternal/Devices/VMMDev/0/Config/GetHostTimeDisabled" "1"
but that has know effect.

vboxmanage setextradata "VMLiteXPMode" "VBoxInternal/Devices/VMMDev/0/Config/GetHostTimeDisabled" "1"

is correct. Still no effect?

For some reason now it works (don't know what was wrong before).

btw: Is there a (detailed) documentation about parameters like "VBoxInternal/Devices/VMMDev/0/Config/GetHostTimeDisabled"?
Could be very interesting

Thanks a lot!
