I'm trying to install the newest win 8 version, the release preview on my pc using vboot.

Installation from iso file worked smoothly but when trying to start the os it takes a very long time starting up and after about 5 minutes shows a blue screen with a short message saying something about error on startup, unfortunately it's not shown long enough for me to read the entire error message.

Did anyone else encounter this error and is there any chance that this might be related to the vboot driver?

is this 64-bit version? or 32-bit?

We will test this. We made sure it works with the previous windows 8 release, but it may break again with the latest, which we haven't tested yet.

one thing you can debug for us is to use windows bootmgr to boot the vhd, instead of our vboot boot loader.

I mean you can still install VBoot to the vhd, but can configure boot manager using bcdedit to boot the vhd file. The long delay during boot is an indication there is a deadlock.

It didn't work with bcdedit either, i got the same problem, very long boottime ending with a crash neither did it work on a second machine where i tried to boot the vhd.

However the iso (windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/iso) installed normally on a third machine works flawlessly.

Have you had time to test it yet?
