I ve done some testing with D3D RightMark v1.0.5.0 (public beta 4)
ad found some issues
used my laptop, is not a s powerfull computer
AsusX50R CoreDuoT2250 (NON intel-VT)
2Gb RAM DDR2667 single channel
ATI Radeon express 1100 (video-integrated chipset 128 mb shared)
Windows 7 Ultimate 32b

Guest:
WindowsXPMode spanish as provided by Microsoft
VMLite v3.1.2
CPU 1/ Intel-VTx on(it is greyed out as my CPU doesn´t support it)
Video 22mb 2D/3D acceleration ON.

tested as deskstop and seamless mode
results
in FPS

________Geometry Proc. Speed_________Pixel Shading_________________________Point Sprites
__________Ambient/____Diffuse+Specular/____Psychodelic/_____Lighting (Phong)
Host________11,25/______________3,68/___________191/_____________52,32/_______67,59
V.Desk_______5,62/_______________4,2/__________48,18/_____________41,18/_____ 113,35
seamless_____6,14/______________4,18/__________48,53/____________38,95/______113,35

Pxel shading Psychodelic is in bold as the test obviously didn´t work well on the host, render was too pixelated and it can not be blamed on VMLite.

On the other hand Point Sprites are marked on red because didn´t work well on the guest. and that is why it was so fast.
there may be some incompatibility or a bug in VMLite D3D implementation
here you have the screenshot of this test on host

and VMLite

you have to look it carefully, is not completely black..

About performance, is not an extensive test but
I think it was roughtly about 80% of the host.

Thanks for the reporting. Obviously, there is a problem with VMLite on Direct3D.

The 3D acceleration is still experimental, and we expect to observe issues. Will improve over time.

we all want it to get better and better.
anyway I think this kind of implementation should be more based on compatibility than in performance. I mean that if operformance is your primary concern you should´nt go on a virtualized enviroment.
And if you want to run old software on new hardware performance should not be a problem..

By the way.. what about OpenGL?
If you have good D3D maybe can just wrap it like with MESA GL or scitech...

hummm i remember onece I got Quake III arena running on a trident 9440 Video card with 1Mb (no hardware acceleration of any kind),. it was the ugliest thing ever done and ran at 4fps
