What if i already have XP Mode installed? 11 Months ago Karma: 0
Hi, VMLite XP Mode looks like a great app. I would now like to install VMLite XP Mode. Some questions have come up...

i have XP Mode installed already,
[from an unsuccessful attempt to use Virtual PC XP Mode].

It was downloaded from Microsoft as WindowsXPMode_en-us.exe, and now after installation, it shows up as Windows XP Mode in control Panel/Programs & Features/

However, in the HowTo VMLite XP Mode instructions [page 12-14] it shows i am to look for en_windows_xp_mode_x86_x64_439180

First off, should i uninstall Windows XP Mode .?

Should i be looking for en_windows_xp_mode_x86_x64_439180 somewhere, on-line? It is not anywhere on my PC.

Or, Should i direct the Wizard to use the installed Windows XP Mode i have?

Or, Should i uninstall Windows XP Mode, and direct the Wizard to use WindowsXPMode_en-us.exe that i have.?

Or, Should i leave Windows XP Mode installed, and direct the Wizard to use WindowsXPMode_en-us.exe that i have.?

Thanks for your help,

I have Intel i7 4gig ram, Windows7 Pro, 64bit.

You can use WindowsXPMode_en-us.exe for the input in VMLite Wizard option 2.

Once it works, then you can uninstall Microsoft XP Mode. VMLite works well without it.

Thanks for the help, huisinro.

Do i need to keep XP Mode installed until after i get VMLite XP Mode running?
At this point i have XP Mode uninstalled...

Oh, wait, now i have it installed again.

I am getting the following error on start-up of my old winXP application that i intend to run within the virtual XP:

“This application has failed to start because MFC71.DLL was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.”

When I click OK I get the following message:
“Application has generated an exception that could not be handled. Process id=0xb84(2948), Thread id=0xb88(2952)”

Do you have any idea what is wrong, and do you think i will have the same problem if i use VMLite?

I will install VMLite either way.
