I'm trying to install VMLiteWorkstationSetup.exe (downloaded today) on a Windows 7 (64 bit) box. I've never installed it before. It tells me that it can't install the vmlitediskmp disk drivers and quits. I tried with the default install values, installing just for me instead of everyone, installing to a directory I created outside Program Files (x86), etc. and get the same error each time.

Thanks for reporting this. This is the first report that VMLiteDiskMP.sys fails to install.

So basically you got the error message from the very first driver installation dialog box? Did you click Install button? any other error messages?

Yes, this was the first driver installation the setup program asked me to make. I tell it to install the driver, it does its thing for a few seconds, then pops up a dialog telling me that it could not install the driver (but the operation succeeded). It then proceeds to reverse the install and exit, telling me the install failed. No other error messages, useful or otherwise, to report.

Yes, this is the US English 64 bit Windows 7.

I saw you have a plugin for Sun Virtualbox, so I installed Sun Virtualbox without any problems, downloaded the plugin version of VMLite and tried to install it. The plugin version gets the same "cannot install vmlitediskmp driver" error. However, the plugin version did not even ask me if I wanted to install the driver, it just tried to install it on its own and could not.

you need that driver even with the plugin. It's a critical component to create the xp mode.
