Hi, I'm short of external storage, can i create a VM of a PC and have the image sent over my network to another pc? Thanks!

you can use a shared folder to store the generated virtual disk file by MyOldPCs, but it will be very slow.

and at the end, the disk will fail to mount, but that's ok, you can then use VMLite Workstation to import the disk file to create a bootable vm.

There was a solution on www.vhdsoft.com/ , but as of now it looks abandoned
